The Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture announced on April 6 that it is launching the Educa Empleo process for April 2026. The initiative will provide more than 2,000 teaching vacancies in public and semi-public schools across the Costa–Galápagos and Sierra–Amazonía regions.

The ministry said this effort aims to ensure the continuity of educational services by filling open teaching positions in a timely manner. Officials noted that the new vacancies will help address institutional needs and maintain stability within schools throughout Ecuador.

Applicants will be selected based on their professional qualifications for either temporary contracts or provisional appointments. The ministry stated that priority will be given to teachers who demonstrate dedication and commitment to quality education. Vacancies include those created by retirements or resignations.

According to the schedule released by the ministry, applications will be accepted from April 6 to April 8 through its official website (www.educacion.gob.ec). Selected teachers are expected to begin their roles on April 16.

Main requirements include holding a registered third-level degree in an educational field, not having an existing employment relationship with the ministry under LOEI or LOSEP regulations, possessing a valid national identification card and National Unique Electric Code (CUEN), as well as specific certifications for English or bilingual specialties. Relevant work experience must also be supported by official documentation when not already recorded with social security authorities.

The Ministry said these actions reaffirm its commitment “to strengthening quality public education by guaranteeing access, retention, and continuity of learning for children and adolescents throughout the country.”
