The Ecuadorian government has announced that in December, $100 million was credited for Value Added Tax (VAT) refunds to senior citizens and people with disabilities. This payment brings the total amount of VAT refunds for 2025 to $442 million, an increase of $97 million compared to the $345 million refunded in 2024.

According to the Servicio de Rentas Internas (SRI), more than 853,000 beneficiaries, including senior citizens and individuals with disabilities, have received these refunds during 2025. The SRI stated that all refund requests duly notified by November 11 have been processed and credited.

“The National Government reaffirms its commitment to the protection and well-being of the country’s priority groups. During December, USD 100 million were credited for VAT refunds in favor of senior citizens and people with disabilities.”

“With this amount, the total value credited throughout 2025 amounts to USD 442 million, which represents USD 97 million more than the USD 345 million credited during 2024, as a result of responsible and sustained management for the benefit of those who need it most.”

“There are more than 853 thousand beneficiaries, including senior citizens and people with disabilities, who have received the VAT refund during 2025.”

“The Servicio de Rentas Internas (SRI) reports that all refund requests that have been duly notified up to November 11 are accredited, ensuring transparency, efficiency and compliance throughout the process.”

“With these actions, President Daniel Noboa’s government demonstrates that orderly, responsible management focused on priority groups makes it possible to meet and exceed commitments made, strengthening citizen confidence and moving towards a new Ecuador.”
