The National Government of Ecuador, through the Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture (MINEDEC), has expanded academic opportunities for Ecuadorians by awarding more than 25,000 scholarships under the Globo Común program during 2024 and 2025. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen human talent in the country, which has resulted in over 482,000 scholarships and financial aid grants.

Globo Común provides access to international scholarships for undergraduate and graduate studies as well as training programs offered by governments, cooperation agencies, and academic institutions. In 2025, the program added 19 new partners—15 international and four national—bringing the total number of scholarship providers to about 50. These partners include countries such as India, China, Japan, South Korea, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Brunei, United Arab Emirates, Chile, Mexico, and Colombia.

Current open calls through Globo Común include opportunities for study in India (application deadline February 6), Turkey (deadline February 20), and Brunei (deadline February 15). These scholarships cover various expenses such as airfare, tuition fees, accommodation, living stipends, health insurance, study materials, and cultural activities.

“With these actions,” states the press release from MINEDEC,”the National Government reaffirms its commitment to high-level academic training and strengthening human talent as a foundation for Ecuador’s sustainable development.”
