The Government of Ecuador, through the Ministry of Telecommunications and the Information Society (MINTEL), has awarded 200 scholarships for an intensive data analytics training program. The initiative is conducted in partnership with Coding Bootcamps at the Escuela Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL).

This scholarship program involves a non-refundable investment of $420,000. Its aim is to build digital skills needed for the country’s economy and to support inclusion and employability.

The ceremony took place at ESPOL’s campus and was attended by Roberto Kury, Minister of Telecommunications; Cecilia Paredes, Rector of ESPOL; as well as other officials from the Ministry of Education and the university.

Minister Kury stated: “Each scholarship is a direct investment in knowledge and real opportunities. We are developing talent that will contribute innovation, productivity, and better services for citizens. We will continue expanding digital education programs so that no one is left behind.”

Cecilia Paredes added: “There are 200 scholarships we have for the development of data analysts who will be able to serve productive and social sectors, but above all, they will be able to obtain employment to transform their lives, those of their families, and Ecuador.”

The training program follows a hybrid model. It includes six technical modules—Excel, SQL, Python, Business Intelligence, Data Visualization, AI for Analytics—and an additional module focused on employability.

During the event, Minister Roberto Kury received a plaque recognizing MINTEL’s efforts in promoting technology education.

Funding comes from an inter-institutional cooperation agreement between MINTEL and ESPOL TECH E.P., which allocates resources from telecommunications service providers’ contributions toward projects aimed at reducing the digital divide and supporting technological development.

President Daniel Noboa’s administration continues to support such strategic partnerships to train human talent for advancing digital transformation in Ecuador.
