A sectoral meeting focused on the manufacturing industry took place in Cuenca, aiming to develop coordinated strategies between public and private sectors for Ecuador’s Growth Agenda 2040. The event brought together representatives from food, textile, automotive, ceramics, footwear, pharmaceutical industries, business associations, and academics to assess their respective sectors and propose initiatives for growth.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, manufacturing is a key contributor to Ecuador’s economic activity. In 2025 so far, average monthly sales in manufacturing-related activities have reached USD 3.067 billion, with exports averaging USD 602 million per month. The sector provides over 370,000 formal jobs nationwide.
Participants highlighted Ecuador’s diversified manufacturing base and regional supply chains as essential conditions for sustainable industrialization and technological innovation. The meeting was held in Cuenca due to its significant role in the country’s manufacturing sector as a leader in several key industries and a generator of specialized employment.
