On November 18, 2025, the first session of the National Committee for the “Security, Hope and Resilience for Peace” (SERPAZ) Program was held with participation from Mario Godoy, president of the Consejo de la Judicatura. The committee is an inter-institutional effort led by the Government of Ecuador and the European Union to improve security and combat organized crime.
The session covered progress in four main areas: anti-money laundering security, prison management and social rehabilitation, crime prevention in export logistics chains, and protection of children and adolescents at risk.
Representatives from the Consejo de la Judicatura also included Tatiana Sampedro, national director of Transparency Management; Ariana Yánez, deputy national director of Procedural Management; and María Dolores Avilés, coordinator for International Relations and Cooperation.
During his remarks, Mario Godoy emphasized ongoing collaboration among all institutions involved in fighting crimes such as money laundering and organized crime. He noted that managing seized assets requires clear processes that are coordinated rather than reactive. He also stressed the need for a shared roadmap with unified protocols to ensure effective and transparent results.
“The organized crime adapts and evolves. Our response must be technical, coordinated and strategic,” said Godoy.
The involvement of Consejo de la Judicatura aims to strengthen justice system responses to complex crimes while demonstrating institutional responsibility regarding transparency, international cooperation, and efficient judicial service.
