The Escuela Especializada Ciudad de Loja N.º 2 held an event to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The program featured artistic performances, painting displays, and a food exhibition prepared by high school students enrolled in the Hotel Services vocational track. These activities were designed to highlight the skills, talents, and independence of the students.
Luz González, principal of the institution, welcomed attendees and acknowledged ongoing support from the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture. She stated: “Our duty as an educational community is to ensure that every person finds here a space where they can fully develop and be recognized for their talent. Speaking about dignity is not just a word; it is providing opportunities and an appropriate environment for comprehensive and quality education. Your commitment and sensitivity make it possible for us to continue advancing.”
In Zone 7, there are 2,261 students with disabilities receiving inclusive and quality education through 23 specialized educational institutions that focus on relevant training processes with professional support.
Favio Villamizar, Zonal 7 Coordinator of Education, Sports and Culture, highlighted the importance of this date and reiterated institutional commitment to inclusion. He said: “I want to express my recognition to teachers, administrators, families, and students who demonstrate every day that inclusive education is not just a principle but a practice that transforms lives.”
The Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture has restated its dedication to fostering inclusive learning environments where each student can showcase their abilities, develop fully, and participate actively in their communities.
