A medical team from Corporación Eléctrica del Ecuador (CELEC EP) provided free healthcare services to 600 residents in Paute, located in the province of Azuay. The initiative was organized by CELEC EP and its business unit CELEC SUR, focusing on communities near the Mazar, Molino, and Sopladora power plants that make up the Paute Integral Hydroelectric Complex.
The one-day event took place at the “Paute Bonito” Gerontological Center. Medical professionals attended to 310 older adults, 179 adults, and 111 children. Services included general medicine, dentistry, physiotherapy, psychosocial support, as well as recreational and cultural activities aimed at improving community well-being.
Additionally, free medication was distributed and 480 food kits were handed out. Home visits were made to individuals unable to travel to the care site.
Thirty health professionals participated in delivering comprehensive care during the event. According to CELEC EP: “This action is part of CELEC EP’s commitment to the health and quality of life of communities located in areas influenced by electricity generation plants and ongoing projects.”
The government stated: “The Government of New Ecuador fulfills its commitment to prioritize the well-being of Ecuadorian families with actions that dignify their rights and restore hope for a country.” Another statement added: “The energy that powers New Ecuador also drives citizens’ well-being.”
