The government has reopened the bridge over the Napo River, located on the E45 road, after completing modernization work. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport invested more than $639,000 in this project, which aims to improve regional integration and safety for travelers between the provinces of Napo and Pastaza.

The renovation included installing 660 concrete slabs, nearly 7,000 load transmission connectors, and 400 meters of handrails to strengthen the bridge’s structure. A five-centimeter asphalt layer was added to the surface, along with a new lighting system and sidewalks measuring 80 centimeters wide. These improvements are designed to support both vehicle and pedestrian traffic between Tena and Carlos Julio Arosemena Tola.

After resurfacing was completed, load tests were conducted to confirm that the bridge meets structural standards for safe use. An official ceremony marking the reopening is planned in the coming days.

According to officials, about 1,000 vehicles cross this bridge daily. The improved infrastructure is expected to directly benefit more than 100,000 residents in Napo and Pastaza provinces by supporting transportation needs and contributing to local economic development.

“In the coming days an official delivery ceremony will be held, reaffirming the State’s commitment to works that exceed half a million dollars and that positively transform Ecuador’s Amazon region,” said authorities from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.

With these upgrades, government representatives state they are continuing efforts to strengthen transport networks in Ecuador’s Amazon region.
