From January to December 2025, the Banco del Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social (BIESS), working with the national government, provided more than $5 billion in loans. The bank reported that these funds supported both families and the wider Ecuadorian economy.

The most widely used product was the Préstamo Quirografario, which accounted for over 2.7 million loans totaling $4.454 billion. BIESS stated that this type of loan has “driven entrepreneurship and injected liquidity into the productive and commercial sectors.”

BIESS also contributed to growth in construction and job creation through its mortgage loans. In 2025, it issued $466.7 million in mortgages across 7,611 operations. According to BIESS, this reflects strong demand from members and retirees who were able to buy homes.

Another product showing significant growth was the Préstamo Prendario, which increased by more than 18% compared to the previous year. In 2025, this loan category reached $143.6 million.

These figures are based on results as of December 26, 2025. Final consolidated totals will be available after operations close on December 31.

“These figures correspond to the annual result achieved by the Bank of affiliates and retirees as of December 26, 2025. The total and consolidated amounts for year-end will be available once operations conclude on December 31,” BIESS said in a statement.
