As of October 2025, the Banco del Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social (Biess) has issued about $4.293 billion in loans to its members, retirees, and pensioners across Ecuador.
According to Biess, this lending volume shows the bank’s ability to meet the credit needs of insured individuals and retirees. The institution states that these loans help boost the economy, create jobs, and support different productive sectors nationwide.
The most popular loan product is the unsecured personal loan (“Préstamo Quirografario”), with $3.77 billion distributed in 2.3 million transactions from January through October 2025.
Mortgage loans totaled $403 million during this period, benefiting 6,572 clients seeking home ownership. These loans have also supported growth in Ecuador’s construction sector and broader economy.
Additionally, secured pledge loans (“Préstamos Prendarios”) amounted to $119.6 million through 119,479 operations for members, retirees, and pensioners.
Biess said: “With these results, Biess reaffirms its commitment to offering efficient, transparent and sustainable financial services that contribute to Ecuador’s development.”
“Biess, the bank that fulfills your dreams.”
