The Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture (MINEDEC) is organizing a national event called “Mujeres Activas: Bailomaratón” to mark International Women’s Day. The initiative aims to encourage physical activity, well-being, and the participation of women through movement.

From March 5 to 7, women from various provinces will gather in sports and recreational spaces for dance sessions and physical activation activities. The event is designed to promote healthy lifestyles and strengthen community ties through sport.

According to the organizers, this effort is part of the Actívate service promoted by the National Government. The program seeks to expand access to sports and physical activity across the country.

The Bailomaratón will take place in 17 provinces: Morona Santiago, Zamora Chinchipe, Chimborazo, Los Ríos, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Bolívar, Pastaza, Orellana, Napo, Esmeraldas, Imbabura, Manabí, El Oro, Guayas, Pichincha, Santa Elena and Loja. Organizers estimate that more than 3,000 women will participate.

Participants will take part in guided classes held in public spaces with a focus on integration, well-being and female empowerment.

“With initiatives like Mujeres Activas, MINEDEC reaffirms its commitment to generating inclusive spaces that strengthen women’s participation and promote healthy living habits throughout the country,” according to a statement from the ministry.

Those interested can find information about locations and schedules for the event on the official social media channels of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture.
