Akí Santa Rosa, a supermarket under Corporación Favorita, is reopening its doors on Friday, December 5, with a renewed store design. The location is at Cristóbal Colón and Santa Rosa streets in Machala, El Oro province. The new layout aims to improve the customer experience and offer a wider variety of products.
The remodeled store features more than 740 square meters of sales area and includes six checkout counters. Among these are express lanes and preferential service for pregnant women, people with disabilities, and seniors. Security measures have also been implemented. Store hours are Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sundays and holidays from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Corporación Favorita introduces its Akí format in Machala with the goal of enhancing customer experience through innovative concepts. The store offers over 20,000 items across sections such as groceries, bakery, produce, and others.
As part of its “Promesa Akí” campaign, Akí Santa Rosa guarantees the lowest prices in the market. Customers can bring receipts from other supermarkets; if they find lower prices elsewhere, Akí will refund the difference. According to the company: “That is the Promesa Akí*, offering the lowest prices in one place.”
The store also introduces Akí Club, which allows customers to accumulate points on purchases that can be redeemed for exclusive benefits by presenting their membership card.
More than 30 new private label brands are now available at Akí Santa Rosa across categories like beauty products, household goods, groceries, and pet supplies. Some of these brands include Aromaesense, Arrurú, Automax, Bio Blend, Bioslee, Blitz, Caballero de Castilla, Casamiga, Cepimax, Cooltiva, El Artesanal, Engy, Esy, Favmed, Free Home, Frummm, Gama, Insignia, Joia, Krash,Lomas del Marqués,Mumi,and others.
The team at Akí La Joya consists of 20 employees including security staff. Nationally there are currently 102 AKÍ-format stores—47 Akí locations along with Gran Akí (21), Súper Akí (26), and Akí Vecino (8). These operations generate about 170 indirect jobs during construction projects and over 1,500 direct jobs in southern Ecuador.
